I’m Mike Hill, and I have been designing professionally since 2011, where I have gained a wealth of experience within the design industry, working with brands, businesses and charities on projects ranging from simple campaigns through to large scale website launches and brand identity development.
At heart I am a problem solver. I enjoy the challenge of truly understanding and developing a solution to difficult user and business challenges. I'm passionate about creating product experiences that are both functional and beautiful, and get a real sense of reward from creating something that brings value to others.
I’m a strong advocate for user centred design and understand that the best products are developed by solving real problems, not just visually appealing solutions.
Through my past experience I am comfortable working across all stages of the product lifecycle in an iterative and collaborative way. Alongside the user interface and visual design skills I can bring to your team, I also bring a strategy lead approach to product design, ensuring solutions are backed up with properly researched and prototyped concepts that work towards creating the best possible product experience.
I value feedback and the opportunity it provides to learn and improve the overall product experience, I am however comfortable working alone when required, and can communicate product concepts effectively through well written and concise documentation and prototypes (from low fidelity mockups through to finished user interfaces) where required.
I have been at Whiteroom since 2013 where I have progressed from digital designer through to senior UX designer. In my current position I’m responsible for all digital aspects of the studios work from initial concepts through to final delivery including working directly with clients and stakeholders throughout the product life cycle.
The role has allowed me to work on a range of different projects from website and app design through to brand development, on location photo shoots, social media campaigns and projection mapping for retail environments. The role requires me to deal with clients directly as well as liaise with third party providers such as developers, photographers and technologist to complete projects.
I worked on contract to Manchester based Four 23 working on a range of projects from the adidas 2012 olympics campaign through to the Kevin Spacey foundation.
